Board of Directors

The Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District board of directors were all elected by the public at the district's annual meeting.

Committees: The following committees were established in 2001. Each committee includes several directors dedicated to working on that particular issue for the district.

Building Committee--This committee is searching for office space to relocate the District by 2007. Currently, the NRCS/Torch Lake Project (partnering agency) provides office space to the District rent free. Preparing for the day when the Torch Lake Superfund Project has been completed, the building committee is looking for office space that is adequate for its staff and resource library.

Annual Meeting Committee--Planning a dinner, year-end reports, a guest speaker, and the election of new board members keeps this committee busy. Every October the public is invited to attend the annual meeting and cast their ballots for directors. Much time and preparation goes into planning this event which is one the primary ways that the District has an opportunity to meet with the public they serve.

Review Committee--This comittee conducts evaluations of district staff and the board of directors.
