Farming The Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District has a rich history of working with area farmers and landowners.

History

In 2001 the Conservation District celebrated fifty years of service to the communities of Houghton and Keweenaw counties. Begun in 1951, the Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District has a rich history of working with area farmers and landowners.

The district has begun to research this history and is currently developing a library of salvaged archives including old newspaper articles, photos, and documentation. If you're interested in volunteering your time to organize these materials for public viewing, please contact the Executive Director.

See The Conservation Quarterly Newsletters, for more information on District history.
