Leadership The District is always in the process of recruiting new board directors. There are two categories of director positions on the board: 1) elected director, and 2) associate director. The elected board member has voting rights. He or she serves a four-year term on a five-member board. There is no term limitation. Elected at the district's annual meeting, these board members direct and guide the district through their decision making. Associate directors are encouraged to be involved as well. An associate director is one who attends monthly meetings, has a voice in discussions concerning decision-making, but does not have the voting rights of an elected director. Taking part as an associate director is a opportunity to pave the way for becoming an elected board of director. Contact us for more information on becoming a director for the Houghton/Keweenaw Conservation District.
