The Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District will hold its 52nd Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 18, 2003, 4:00 p.m., at the Mariner North in Copper Harbor. Following the meeting and a smorgasbord dinner, the District promises to provide an interesting and entertaining evening with featured guest speakers Phyllis Green and Jim Rooks.
Phyllis Green is the superintendent of Isle Royale National Park. Jim Rooks owns the Laughing Loon in Copper Harbor and guides local woodland tours.
This is also an excellent opportunity to meet your Conservation District Board directors and staff along with our partners from the Michigan Department of Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Torch Lake Superfund Project Engineers, Copper Country Ducks Unlimited, Keweenaw Land Trust, North Woods Conservancy, Keweenaw Industrial Council, Western UP Planning and Development Region, and the Houghton and Keweenaw County Board of Commissioners.
Everyone is invited to attend. Tickets are $15.00 per person and are available by calling the Houghton Keweenaw Conservation District at 482-0214. Reservations are required.
