Medium tree, reaching heights of 40-75 feet at maturity and short lived. Prefers wet/poorly drained sites such as bogs and swamps but (infrequently) can also grow on drier upland sites with well drained soils (may limited by surrounding competition and additional management may be required). Very-shade intolerant and fast-growing.
