The Cardinal Cortland is a strain of Cortland grown by Boyer’s Nursery that retains the characteristics of a regular Cortland, just with more green color at the base and an overall larger fruit size Harvest mid-late September. Can self-pollinate but will produce better with an Empire variety nearby. Gala, Golden Delicious, and Honeycrisp can also pollinate but not as well as an Empire.
